Shri Thawar Chand Gehlot, born on May 18, 1948, is an Indian politician currently serving as the 13th Governor of Karnataka. He is the first individual from Madhya Pradesh to hold this position. Shri Gehlot assumed office on July 11, 2021. Prior to this role, he was the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment in the Indian government from 2014 to 2021 and also served as the Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of Parliament. He was a member of the BJP’s Parliamentary Board and Central Election Committee.
